my bf has taken drugs for about 3 years.I asked him to quit them.but if he stop taking drugs,he has to take many pain-killers.how can I make him to get out of this?

What kind of drugs does he use, if I may ask? Prescription or illegal? I have personally had quite a few experiences with trying to get friends to stop taking illegal drugs -I have never succeeded (and this includes a relationship ending because of this). I really think that it is the persons own prerogative, and that all you can really do is let him know about the full consequences and potential repercussions which his drug use may have.
