Heroin Detox. Treatment Centers.?

Question by brighteyesbby: Heroin Detox. Treatment centers.?
I’m trying to write, what is right now a short story, on a girl who is an heroin addict going to a detox treatment center. I’ve been to substance abuse/ mental heath centers, but they didn’t deal with major things like this. So I was wondering if anyone has been through heroin detox, or knows someone who has, or has even worked at a center. I want to know what the steps are to get admitted, whats the first line of treatment they do, when do they let you leave, how long were you there, how did/do you not relapse, how has this affected your life today.

Also if your currently or have been a heroin addict, what is/was your daily life like, how do you live with this addiction, how do you feel, think, thrive.

I know this is alot of question, and slightly invasive, but I’ve never done heroin, and I don’t want my ignorance, to ruin the story.
I know that for some people, talking about things is hard, so if you’d like you can e-mail me.
And do give credit where credit is due, so if i use something you said, i will note it.

If this is truly the case, then I would suggest you find a detox facility in your area, go there and explain what your interest is and seek the information form them.
Their would be so many case history’s available, access to those would be the only problem.
Many psychology students do research this way.
