Please answer only if you have direct experience with a drug addict(not marijuana or alcohol please)…
Before you discovered your loved ones drug problem…were they good at hiding it? As in did their behavior change, but you didn’t understand what was going on? Please elaborate on your experience…

Any addict will tell you they are “shocked” usually to find out other people suspect their addiction. A close friend of mine was using heroin. She thought we had no clue. However, we noticed all the signs: mood and social changes, sleeping all the time, skipping work a lot, weight loss, changes in social circle, etc. I think the drugs alter their lifestyle and mindset so much that they don’t realize anything but that which is related to the addiction.

Hate to say it but yes a lot of addicts are very good at hiding there addiction.
Most people are oblivious to what it is that’s actually going on but a healthcare professional or someone who’s had life experience around these issues chances are pretty good that these people are going to catch on to what it is that’s going on as these people are familiar with the behaviors associated with drug and alcohol addiction.
