Sociopath vs Addiction?

Question by ~Carolyn~: sociopath vs addiction?
I am in a relationship that has been “ending” for about a month and a half. We have a 3 1/2 month old baby together. Long story short… My last marriage was abusive. I met him when was in a very bad place. He swept me off my feet. I found out he was in recovery from an alcohol & drug addiction. The first 1 1/2 years he was wonderful. He helped me get on my feet and was very supportive of my goals. He seemed to good to be true. I found out he was cheating on me 2 months ago. A few weeks later he decided to move out but still wanted to maintain a relationship with me. Even with a place of his own he won’t go! He’s not spent 1 night there! So i started to see a therapist. She says & I agree somewhat that he has alot of the traits of a sociopath. Does anyone know if a person in recovery can mimic a sociopath due to the learned behavior during the addiction. I can’t figure out if he is a true sociopath or maybe just in the process of unlearning the behavior from addiction.
I forgot to add he has 2 years clean. Am I wasting my time with a crazy person? Is this just how people in recovery are??

A wise man once told me; “If you ever meet someone who could be on Jerry Springer, try to aviod them.”
In other words, who cares if he is a sociopath? He sucks. Bottom line. Move on.

i disagree, a sociopath is someone who doesn’t have a conscience, from what your saying he doesn’t sound like he could go hack up a family of five and then come home and eat dinner and go to bed, he’s only 2 yrs clean that’s long but maybe not long enough, people and i know this first hand (unfortunately) who use drugs and or alcohol are just immature and need a lot more attention and love then just your average joe: now you have 2 babies, it’s up to you but put the littlest one first, good luck=)
